The desert date is a spiny, evergreen tree, deciduous shrub, or small tree, that grows 2.5 to 4 m. tall. Leaves are green, petiolate, leaflets 1to3.5 cm and 0.4 to 1.7 cm, elliptic-oblong, pubescent. Flowers are greenish-yellow, in axillary and fascicled cymes. Fruit is ovoid, and yellowish-green when ripe. Flowering occurs in December-March and Fruiting in March-July.
