Small Indian Oak, scientifically known as Barringtonia acutangula, is a tropical tree native to South and Southeast Asia. Various parts of this tree, including the leaves, bark, and seeds, have been traditionally used in herbal medicine. It is a medium evergreen tree; the leaves are pale green, about 12 cm long, and elliptic. The flowers are small, fragrant, hanging in slender pendulous many-flowered racemes, length up to 30 cm. Fruit are 2.5 to 3.7 cm long, quadrangular, broadest in the middle, reddish-green.
The bark and leaves are known to contain compounds with potential medicinal properties, and extracts have been used in some traditional practices. However, it’s important to note that the use of any plant for medicinal purposes should be approached with caution and under the guidance of a knowledgeable herbalist or healthcare professional. Additionally, scientific research on the efficacy and safety of Small Indian Oak for specific medical conditions may be limited. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before using it for therapeutic purposes.
