Plant description:

It is a small tree or large shrub of the Western Ghats, semi-evergreen forests and erect, grows to 4- 5 feet, leaves are 6 to 18 cm long and 3 to 5.5 cm wide, elliptic, or ovate-lanceolate, tapered at end, hairy. Flowers are borne in clusters in leaf axils and terminal panicles, five petals, ovate, yellow in color, 2 to 3.5 mm long. Seeds are found in clusters, globose, purple color when ripe.
