The Ayurveda treatment Pizhichil or Thailadhara is a method of Ayurveda therapy of Kerala, and it is a combination of two classical Ayurveda treatment methods, Snehana, and Swedana. The whole body is bathed in a stream of lukewarm medicated oil with gentle massage.
It is a combination of oil massage and heat treatment, a gentle and synchronized massage is carried throughout on all parts of the body. The patient is lying on a treatment table and two or more trained therapists carry out the massage under the strict supervision of an Ayurveda physician. It should be administered in different seven standard positions.
A special cotton cloth dipped in lukewarm medicated oil is squeezed over the patient’s body uniformly and then the oil rubbed smoothly over the body of the patient by masseurs on either side.
This treatment is recommended for extreme rheumatic problems, muscular aches and pains, osteoarthritis, insomnia, depression, and sexual problems. This treatment tones and rejuvenates the skin, promotes relaxation, and blood circulation, and nourishes muscles. Nerves tissues, and inner balance.
