Scientific name of Mustard: Brassica juncea

Name of Mustard in different languages:

Sanskrit: Sarshapa

Hindi: Sarswom-सरसों, Rayi राई

Tamil: Kaduku-கடுகு

Malayalam: Kaduku കടുക്

Plant description:

Mustard is an erect, annual herb grow up to 50-60 cm in height, pale green, leaves are comparatively big, finely serrated margin, venation reticulated, the flowers are yellow in color, borne in clusters, the seeds contain in a pod, 1 to 1.5 inch in length, and it is green, it becomes pale yellow when it is ripe.

Medicinal uses:

To reduce rheumatic, and vita pain, to treat asthma, Athlete’s foot, and the common aches of arm and leg.

Selaniyam (prepared from mustard), volatile and a volatile pesticide

Apply oil on the knee to reduce rheumatic pain
