Licorice is a herbaceous perennial plant, growing up to 1.5 m tall, leaves are small and pinnate-sized about 7 to 15 cm long and 9 to 17 cm wide. The flowers are pale whitish blue, sized 0.8 to 1.2 cm long; the stems are sweet and grey in color. The fruit containing several seeds is pod sized 2 to 3 cm long . Roots and stems are used as medicines.
