This a fast-growing small ornamental flowering tree with red or white flowers resembling little birds, growing up to 12-15 feet high with a straight trunk and small leaves foliage, its flowering season starts in November and ends in June. Flowers are large and curved shaped. Young leaves, green fruit, and flowers are edible. Bark, leaves, gums, and flowers are useful in the Ayurveda treatments.

To reduce Kapha and Pitha, to heal wounds, treat Headaches, improve appetite, smallpox, pain, bronchitis, anemia, tumors, colic, jaundice, Rheumatism, Expectorant, and Painful swelling.

Antipyretic- Oleanolic Acid, Histidine, Isoleucine, Phenylalanine, Arginine, Cysteine, Tryptophan, Valine, Threonine, Alanine, Aspargine, Tannin, Vitamin c, Oleanolic Acid.
Hummingbird tree leaves with other ingredients are useful in Nasya treatment; it is effective in reducing inflammation and Kapha and it can reduce headache, Pensam, cough, etc. Leaf fry in ghee and used daily to reduce eye diseases, because it is rich in vitamin A source. Seeds grind in cow milk and applied on the affected area are helpful in curing wounds, and it is also useful to treat mouth ulcers and peptic ulcers.
