Plant description:

Black cumin or caraway plant is an erect, biennial herb, height 0.5 – 1.0 m., stem cylindrical, branched, aromatic and leafy, leaves  pinnately arranged, lanceolate. Flowers are very small, borne in terminally or axillary clusters of white flowers. Fruits are brown, 3 to6 mm long, ovoid, glabrous and laterally flattened. Seeds are black, a warm, sweet, taste and flavor.
