Bandicoot Berry is commonly found in the Western Ghats, tropical areas evergreen forest throughout India, it is a shrub grows up to five meters tall, branches are straight. The leaves are big, pinnately arranged or triple compounded, up to 120 cm long. The flowers are small, greenish-white in color. The fruits are Berries, globose, born in clusters, about 0.7 cm across, purple-black in color and 4 to 6 seeds.

Decoction of the root is used in colic, and it is cooling and relieves excess thirst.
The root decoction is used in the treatments of diarrheal and dysentery.
